Garamon, the meteorite monster from the special effects series Ultra Q, is being released as a pre-painted cast figure by CCP JAPAN! Pre-orders for the "Ultimate Phantom Modeling CCP JAPAN x Asai Zokei Meteorite Monster Garamon Garadama DX Painted Version" will begin at hobby shops, mass retailers, and web stores nationwide!
Garamon, released as a garage kit by Asai Zoukei in 2020, has been commercialized by CCPJAPAN as a painted finished product after five years. Standing at approximately 30cm in height, the details of Garamon's suit that appeared in the drama "Ultra Q" are eye-catching. This item is made of resin cast (PU) (some PS) and reproduces almost the entire body, reproducing its complex shape without leaving anything out. While regular soft vinyl or PVC products inevitably have seams where the parts are glued together, this item is cast reproduced as a single piece, allowing you to enjoy a beautiful form without any seams.
Furthermore, the greatest feature of this item is the interchangeable Garadama pedestal that is included. By removing Garamon's legs and tail parts, it is possible to assemble it onto the Garadama pedestal. A strong magnet is built in, so you can easily and sturdily change the legs and pedestal.
The paint job was done by Sarutajira, a monster model painter who belongs to CCP JAPAN's in-house workshop and also works as a painter, taking on painting samples for sculptors. The painting was done to recreate the Garamon from the colorized version of the movie, supervised by Asai Zokei and Tsuburaya Productions. The fins are not painted in a single color, but rather a dark reddish brown with bright orange highlights to recreate the texture. Particular attention was paid to recreating the red color of the body, and the color was carefully adjusted to create an exquisite color that was deliberately subdued but not too dark, in order to recreate the pale atmosphere of the old footage. In addition, highlights and shadows were used to create a shape with great depth, and dry brushing was also used.
The Garadama pedestal also uses color to recreate the scene in the movie where the Garadama emits high heat and glows red, a scene never seen before. You can experience the Garadama in a different way than with previous three-dimensional objects.
