The official Gunpla flagship store for Mobile Suit Gundam in Japan, GUNDAM BASE, has announced a new limited-edition item, "HG 1/144 Gundam DX [Transparent Color]" , which will be available for purchase at various stores starting May 23, 2026.
The GX-9901-DX Gundam DX is a powerful mobile suit developed in secret by the New Earth Federation Forces to symbolize a new era and consolidate its sovereignty. It inherits the design concept and data of the "Gundam X," which was known as the strongest mobile suit in the 7th Space War, and has its cockpit completely transplanted. Not only is its overall performance greatly improved, but it can also activate the "Satellite System" without the need for Newtypes. It is equipped with two new "Satellite Cannons mk-II" on its back, with improved microwave light collection efficiency. Their power is several times that of the old model, and they can even fire continuously after receiving a single microwave.
The "HG 1/144 Gundam DX [Transparent Color]" is a modified version of the standard kit released in 2013. The black, white, red, yellow, and dark blue parts are replaced with transparent molded colors, while the dark gray parts, such as the joints, are made with a molded color with a metallic texture. When light shines on them, they can present a crystal-like luster. This makes it easier to carry out special modification techniques such as lighting and glow-in-the-dark paint, and can present a style different from that of ordinary Gunpla.
The rest of the design is the same as the standard version, featuring a cool and stylish look, flexible double joints on the elbows and knees, and a retractable back reflector with a honeycomb structure reproduced using stickers. The two "Satellite Cannons MK-II" can be deployed via a telescopic mechanism to recreate a cool firing stance. Handheld weapons include a super-powerful beam saber, a dedicated destruction rifle, and a shield that can be used as a physical sword.
