Following the critically acclaimed and best-selling "DEVILNYAN," which saw its resale value multiply several times over , Hong Kong-based toy brand Unbox Industries has once again collaborated with Japanese yokai illustrator Ayako Ishiguro. This time, they've cleverly blended the eerie and terrifying atmosphere of Chucky with Ishiguro's signature cat-like whimsical style and quirky aesthetics to create a brand new incarnation: "NYACKY!" This figure will officially launch on December 20, 2025, at Unbox Industries , priced at US$175 per piece.
About Ayako Ishiguro:
Ayako Ishiguro, born in 1973, is a painter and picture book author, specializing in drawing various yokai (supernatural beings) and fantasy creatures. Ishiguro never attended any formal art school or apprenticed under any painter; she honed her skills and developed her style entirely through self-study. At the age of 20, her style was criticized by others, causing her to be unable to paint for a long time. However, she was deeply influenced by seeing the famous ukiyo-e artist Kawanabe Kyōsai's "Hyakki Yagyō" (Night Parade of One Hundred Demons), and returned to painting. She eventually published numerous picture books and illustration collections, becoming a renowned yokai illustrator.
About Chucky:
Chucky is based on the 1988 film *Child's Play*. In the film, serial killer Charles Lee Ray, pursued by the police, flees to a toy store. Desperate, before being shot by the police, Charles uses a voodoo spell to transfer his soul into a bestselling American toy doll called "Good Guy." Thus, the most infamous killer toy in history was born... *Child's Play*, with its initial global box office of approximately $44.2 million, successfully established itself as a new generation of horror classic.
This work is officially licensed by Universal Pictures, and renowned yokai illustrator Ayako Ishiguro reinterprets the iconic toy killer "Chucky" with her unique cat-yokai style, transforming him into "NYACKY." Chucky's ferocious expression has been cleverly transformed into a cat's clenched teeth, and the raised cleaver has been replaced with a "fish bone." The original "Good Guy" overalls design has been modified with several new drawings by Ishiguro.
Even the packaging, which can be considered part of the artwork, is meticulously designed. The overall design follows the classic shape of the original "Good Guy" doll: a striking bright yellow color scheme and cute lettering are all present, but the box illustration and decorations have been completely replaced with illustrations by Ayako Ishiguro. From the doll itself to the packaging, it pays homage to the original work completely, making it a truly sincere and collectible piece—a must-have for fans of Ishiguro and Chucky!
