Takara Tomy has released the first release of the "TOMICA TUNES" series, a series of die-cast minicars "Tomica" with characters riding on them and "tuned up" them to be "cutely tuned up." The minicar "TOMICA TUNES SANRIO CHARACTERS Vol. 1" features a Sanrio character with a "sad face" riding on it! It will be released in late May 2025 at toy specialty stores nationwide, toy sections of department stores and mass retailers, Tomica specialty stores "Tomica Shops," general stores "Kiddyland (some)," internet shops, Takara Tomy's official shopping site "Takara Tomy Mall," and more. Reservations will begin on Monday, March 31, 2025 at "Takara Tomy Mall."
The product is also scheduled to be released in 11 Asian regions (Japan, China, South Korea, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, the Philippines, Indonesia, and Vietnam) (it will be released first in mainland China, with other regions to follow).
"TOMICA TUNES" is a series of cutely tuned-up characters riding on full-scale die-cast bodies, with the catchphrase "Tune up your Tomica!", featuring eye-catching, dejected expressions. The series is based on the image of a car getting lost while driving and moving forward despite the difficulties, and conveys a positive story that even if you face difficulties in life and take a detour, if you keep moving forward, you will eventually find your way. From the second series onwards, there are plans to develop products in collaboration with character IPs that are popular in Japan and Asia.
TOMICA TUNES SANRIO CHARACTERS Vol.1
There are 7 types in total, including 6 characters: "Hello Kitty", "Pom Pom Purin", "Pochacco", "Cinnamoroll", "My Melody", and "Kuromi", plus 1 secret. The secret is a special color version of one of the 6 characters. You won't know which character it is until you open the box.
*Characters riding in the Tomica cannot be removed.
