American styling brand Premium Collectibles Studio (PCS) recently announced that the new 1/3 scale statue "ED-209" from the 1987 movie "RoboCop" is now available for pre-order at PCS and is expected to be released in the fourth quarter of 2025. The product is available with a suggested retail price of US$3,100 and a limited quantity of 150 pieces.
The story of "RoboCop" is set in the modern future, in Detroit (also called hell by the characters in the play) where criminals are rampant and turbulent. The protagonist of the story is "Murphy", a male police officer who has just been transferred to Detroit. However, Murphy was brutally murdered when he and his partner went deep into the criminal base. Afterwards, Murphy's body was recycled by the large company "Omni Consumer Products (OCP)" and transformed into a half-human, half-mechanical robot policeman; because some memories of being Murphy still remained, the robot war The police officer would still make the signature move that Murphy used to hold his gun to the side of his right thigh after he used it before his death.
The full name of ED-209 this time is Enforcement Droid Series 209. It is a bipedal riot control robot developed by Dick Jones among omnidirectional consumer products. When demonstrating the performance of the ED-209 in a meeting, Kinney was asked by Jones to simulate the situation of arresting a prisoner and pointing a gun at the ED-209. Although Kinney immediately dropped the pistol after the ED-209's warning, the ED-209 failed due to a malfunction. It was still believed that Kinney had a pistol in his hand and after the countdown expired, Kinney was blown to pieces with powerful firepower; this accident caused the ED-209 plan to be shelved, and Bob Morton took advantage of the situation to propose the RoboCop plan to the president.
The ED-209, which is three-dimensional at a 1/3 scale, is about 87 centimeters tall. It fully reproduces the powerful appearance of this bipedal machine when it first appeared in the office, and presents a very intimidating appearance with arms raised and weapons. In terms of posture, the best thing about this work is definitely the depiction of the ED-209’s armor details and weapons, as well as the depiction of the aircraft number that restores the movie settings. The texture of the exposed wires, fuselage shell and metal parts is quite good. Coupled with the base designed with the LOGO of the omnidirectional consumer products company, the whole thing can be said to make people instantly return to the terrible office where people died.
