Section 4: Good Luck, Bastards
Ma Dong is a Korean-Chinese man. His mother is Korean, and his father is Chinese, a veteran of the Grass Flower Family. He was one of Neil's earliest bodyguards. His father was a martial arts expert who had saved Neil several times during turf wars.
However, during a later gang fight, he was shot and killed while protecting Neil. Ma Dong was eight years old at the time. Survival in the gang was difficult for an orphan and a widowed mother. Neil took Ma Dong in and raised him as his adopted son.
Ma Dong's naturally sturdy physique, coupled with Neil's dedicated training, not only cultivated his fighting and firearms skills but also sent him to the United States to study finance.
This gave him a strong fighting aptitude and business acumen within the gang.
Ma Dong, now a master's degree holder, often accompanied Neil, serving as his loyal bodyguard and business advisor.
At the same time, Neil handed over some of his business to Ma Dong. Ma Dong took over many businesses, including several nightclubs, bars, casinos, and restaurants, and his financial resources gradually became strong.
This time, Ma Dong followed Neil to the cemetery. After Neil left, Ma Dong placed four cards on the table.
The three people sitting opposite him did not dare to draw the cards first, and they looked at each other. Just then, the impatient Archibald, the Eight of Spades, reached for one of the cards first. Suddenly, a snake emerged and bit Archibald on the back of his hand.
The bite instantly made Archibald furious and tried to draw his pistol from his waist. Before he could fully draw the gun, a pistol was already pressed against his crotch. Vera, with a playful smile on her face, slowly wrapped the snake around her hand, and the snake kept spitting at Archibald.
Vera casually grabbed a card and said, "Ladies should go first."
August, the representative of the Hearts family, also took a card. Humiliated, Archibald, with a sly grin, said to Vera, "I'll make you crawl over to me later, like a dog, carrying the cards in my mouth."
Two high-fives rang out, and Ma Dong's high-fives signaled the arrival of four Asian men, who brought four boxes, each containing a single playing card, and placed them before Ma Dong.
"Guests, please show your chosen cards," Ma Dong urged, tapping the table.
Archibald was the first to reveal his cards: the Ace of Diamonds, August the Ace of Clubs, and Vera the Ace of Spades. Ma Dong opened his hand, the Ace of Hearts.
"Anyone want to trade? I want the Ace of Diamonds," Archibald said first.
"I don't want to trade with anyone," Vera said, scornfully, looking at Archibald.
"Guests, you may exchange freely, but only once," Ma Dong said with a sly grin.
"Bitch, you're all mine when you get out," Archibald threatened.
Ogsger, holding the Ace of Clubs, raised an eyebrow and looked at Ma Dong with a purposeful expression. Ma Dong, smiling knowingly, shook his finger, refusing the exchange.
"If you don't have any to exchange, please accept your gift," Ma Dong gestured, his four subordinates behind him placing the corresponding card boxes in front of the owner.
Archibald gently opened the box with one hand, revealing a sealed cloth bag. Archibald reached in, felt around with two fingers, and felt what felt like a ring. He glanced around and quickly slipped the bag into his inner pocket.
Vera also pulled out a black bag from the box, but this one was larger than Archibald's. Vera grabbed the bag without even examining it and placed it in her safe.
"Hush—" Archibald whistled, approaching Vera and jokingly saying, "Crawl over to me and tell me the password yourself."
Vera ignored him, smirking, and stood up. She turned around, gave Archibald a middle finger, and left the room.
Ogsig also took the black bag from the box and stood up to leave.
Just as everyone was leaving the room, Ma Dong's voice came from behind them, "Good luck, assholes."
