INFORMATION
BANDAI SPIRITS' collectible division, TAMASHII NATIONS, has announced the release of a new product from their SHMonsterArts series, "Godzilla (1975)," based on the movie "Mechagodzilla Strikes Back." The new figure is scheduled for release in August 2026.
Godzilla, appearing in the final installments of the Showa-era Godzilla film series, *Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla* and *Mechagodzilla's Counterattack*, was triggered by the destructive actions of Mechagodzilla , an invasion weapon created by the inhabitants of Planet Black Hole 3, which disguised itself as Godzilla and wreaked havoc. This triggered its fighting instincts, leading it to appear in Tokyo Bay. In the first film, it repelled Mechagodzilla with its magnetized body formed by absorbing lightning strikes and the assistance of Okinawa's guardian deity, King Cesar. In the sequel, it fought against the improved Mechagodzilla 2, taking advantage of the moment when the cyborg Kei Mafune, who controlled the central control system , committed suicide and went completely out of control, to completely destroy Mechagodzilla 2 with a radiation heat beam.
"SHMonsterArts Godzilla (1975)" was designed by Yuji Sakai, Japan's leading Godzilla stylist, who also served as the prototype maker, color designer, and product supervisor. The figure faithfully recreates the costume from the movie with completely new styling parts, and combines precise design and flexible articulation into a 16cm tall figure. Features such as the bloodshot, drooping eyes, the flat and wide protruding jaw, and the black claws and claws are all faithfully reproduced.
The articulation parts were also created by Mitsuhiko Hosokawa , the mastermind behind the articulation mechanisms of all SH MonsterArts products. Through a precise articulation design, the integrity of the figure is maintained, while also featuring flexible joints that allow for dynamic and powerful poses. This time, the four large dorsal fins in the center of the back also incorporate articulation, allowing for the recreation of Godzilla's side-to-side swaying motion during action scenes. Accessories also include dedicated hands to recreate punching attacks, further enhancing the recreation of scenes from the show.
