Bandai's popular soft vinyl brand "Movie Monster Series" and "Ultra Kaiju Advance" have teamed up for the first time! "Jirasu the Collared Dinosaur" from "Ultraman" has been commercialized and will be available for pre-order from 4:00 pm on Thursday, June 26, 2025 on Premium Bandai!
The "Movie Monster Series" is a series of soft vinyl figures that bring to life the "monsters" that appear in special effects films with realistic shapes and colors, while the "Ultra Monster Advance" series is a series of soft vinyl figures that recreate the abilities and characteristics of monsters that appear in the Ultraman series with movable and transforming gimmicks. These two major soft vinyl brands have collaborated to produce a product based on the collared dinosaur Jirass from the 1966 broadcast of "Ultraman"!
The figure itself is a standard size, about 16cm tall, in line with the "Movie Monster Series." In order to express a more detailed design than regular Ultra Soft Vinyl, Tsuburaya Productions' modeling department and LSS supervised the pursuit of a design unique to Jirass. Newly sculpted parts are used to recreate memorable features from the movie, such as the slightly misfocused eyes on the left and right.
In addition, the most memorable battle scene between Jirass and Ultraman in the movie, where the collar comes off, is recreated with a gimmick. Jirass' body and the collar are sculpted as separate parts, and just like in the movie, you can remove the collar from Jirass' body by pulling the collar from his neck. What's more, when the collar is removed, the scar from the neck is also recreated just like in the movie!
59 years have passed since the broadcast of "Ultraman" episode 10, "The Mysterious Dinosaur Base," and this soft vinyl figure once again captures and recreates the charm of Jirass. The collaboration between the "Movie Monster Series" and Ultra Soft Vinyl is scheduled to continue in the future.
