The alloy model series "HI-METAL R" with a transforming mechanism, released by TAMASHII NATIONS, the collectible toy division of Japan's BANDAI SPIRITS, has announced that the latest product "VF-0S Phoenix (Roy Fokker) + QF-2200D-B Ghost" from "Macross ZERO" is expected to be released in January 2026.
VF-0 Phoenix is a prototype made by the Earth Unified Army during the development of the variable fighter "VF-1 Valkyrie". It was originally used only for testing and had no actual combat functions. However, during the Unified War, the Anti-Unified Alliance Army first put the SV-51 into actual combat, forcing the Unified Army to urgently transform the Phoenix into actual combat specifications. Although the Phoenix still has many shortcomings that have not been adjusted, and the small nuclear fusion engine that can be used in space has not yet been developed, well-known pilots such as Kudo Makoto and Roy Fokker still fly this machine to fight against the attacking SV-51.
"HI-METAL R VF-0S Phoenix (Roy Fokker) + QF-2200D-B Ghost" is based on the VF-0S Phoenix released in 2022. It adds the drone armed "QF-2200D-B Ghost", as well as luxurious armed accessories such as 8-mounted general-purpose micro missile launchers and medium-range mobile missile pods, reproducing the strongest specifications at the time of the final decisive battle.
The VF-0S Phoenix is made of plastic and partly alloy. By replacing the main wing and other parts and the deformation mechanism, it can reproduce the three forms of FIGHTER, GERWALK and BATTROID. The fuselage exterior has rich details, color painting and logo printing, and reproduces the skull pattern in many places such as the tail.
In FIGHTER mode, the cockpit cover uses transparent parts with IRIS coating to show a more realistic polarized texture, and the landing gear can be reproduced with replacement parts. BATTROID is about 14 cm tall, with flexible joints, and can be held in the GUNPOD to play with the battle posture.
The newly added ghost drone, 8-mounted general-purpose micro missile launcher, and medium-range mobile missile pod can be mounted on the back and main wings of the three forms respectively. The ghost's propulsion nozzle can be adjusted in direction through the ball joint, reproducing the flight posture that uses the ghost's thrust to improve acceleration performance.
