Chapter 9: Treasure Hunt
Section 3: Negotiation
Those who control fate deal the cards, those who accept fate draw the cards.
Seven of Hearts August and his brother Seven of Hearts Augustine, relying on the backing of the Seven of Hearts family, brought all the large and small gangs near the Mexican border under their control, allowing their drug business to grow larger and larger, almost monopolizing the entire drug trade along the Mexican border. The King of Hearts also provided the two brothers with abundant resources, especially August's cunning and ruthlessness, which brought huge profits to the Seven of Hearts family through the drug trade. August, a motorcycle enthusiast, also cultivated a large group of loyal motorcycle gangs on the border to maintain his transport lines.
Inside a factory on the Mexican border, a blood-soaked, overweight man knelt in an open space surrounded by the ruins of buildings. Three heavy tires were strapped to his body, and a hand grenade was stuffed in his mouth. His two upper front teeth had been pulled out, and the missing tooth buds were wedged into the grenade's safety lever; if he loosened his grip, the grenade would roll off. To increase the thrill, Augusger would have his pet black panther, Leo, pounce on him. The overweight man would be terrified by the panther's attack, almost screaming, but instinctively biting down on the grenade tightly. Tears, sweat, and urine streamed down his trousers. Augusger and his crew called this game "Fried Onions." Under the relentless attacks of the black panther, the fat man finally gave in, and the grenade fell from his mouth. Seeing the grenade rolling on the ground, the black panther immediately turned and ran away, clearly having undergone specialized training. Only after the black panther was far away did the fat man regain his senses and desperately try to roll away, but he was trapped by three heavy tires, making it difficult to get up and run. The grenade exploded with a loud bang, the shockwave sending him and the tires crashing into the rubble before bouncing back. Shrapnel instantly cut the fat man's buttocks and thighs. The fat man howled in pain on the ground. On the second floor of the factory, Augusger sat on the car sofa, watching everything unfold through the floor-to-ceiling windows. He leaned back on the sofa, as if it were nothing out of the ordinary, and lit a cigar. At that moment, the black panther had run to his side and obediently lay down on the ground. Augusger stroked its head, soothingly saying, "Good boy, Leo."
A subordinate approached and handed him a cell phone. Augusger learned through the call that the Diamond and Spade families had been mobilized.
He put down his phone and asked his subordinate, "How many men can we gather now?"
The subordinate replied, "A dozen or so are escorting a shipment, and we have about twenty left."
"Gather everyone, grab your heavy weapons, and head out quickly to meet up with Augustine at this location." Augusger handed his subordinate a phone with a map on it.
After changing out of his red leather jacket into a motorcycle jacket, Augusger mounted his modified heavy Harley and led his group of over twenty motorcycle enthusiasts into the night.
After meeting up with his brother Augustine, they headed south to a small village—the very village where Neil was searching for the tombstone.
The village was now filled with many uninvited guests. Yes, the already sparsely populated village was deathly silent, home to the Spade, Diamond, and Heart families, as well as the Neil family. Neil sat in the house of the family that had saved his life. Beside him stood a muscular Asian man, Archibald (representing the Spades family), Vera (representing the Diamonds family), and August (representing the Hearts family), all seated around a round table in the small house. Four playing cards were placed in the center of the table, and four envelopes, each containing a card
, lay before Neil. “Gentlemen and ladies, welcome. I think you’ve all come for the same purpose. To be fair, you have four cards in front of you. Draw one for yourself, corresponding to the card in one of these envelopes. Inside each envelope is a coordinate; perhaps you can find everything you want based on that coordinate. Good luck,” Neil said slowly.
“Why should we choose? I want all four!” Augustine said arrogantly.
“You didn’t bring enough men; this is fairer to you,” Vera said sarcastically.
“I have a thicker snake that will make you beg for mercy,” Augustine said with a wicked, lewd grin.
“How do we know if the coordinates hold treasure?” Archibald asked.
“You’ll have to ask Saxon. He wrote these slips of paper. You have to choose for yourselves. Good luck.” Neil smiled, picked up his glass, swirled it, downed it in one gulp, and stood up to leave.
“After you’ve chosen, the last one is for the Clover family,” Neil said authoritatively, turning back before slowly leaving the house.
The burly Asian man beside him stayed behind, sitting in the spot Neil had just occupied, and said, “Gentlemen, please.”
The camera zoomed out, piercing through the rooftops to a bird’s-eye view. Numerous snipers and firing positions had already been laid in ambush throughout the village and on the rooftops, their guns aimed at members of other gangs in the village. The aura of death was slowly creeping in.
