The Disney+ animated series Star Wars: Maul – Lords of Shadow is set after Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith, in the early days of the Empire's rule, during the galaxy's darkest period. Abandoned by Darth Sidious, Maul has lost his former criminal empire and, fueled by endless hatred and obsession, rebuilds his power on the galactic frontier. The animated series, presented in a dark crime thriller style, depicts Maul's struggle for survival and his path to revenge against the Empire. Hot Toys, referencing Maul's appearance in the animated series, uses top-notch craftsmanship to recreate the imposing presence of this Sith avenger!
For the head sculpt, the Hot Toys team has created two highly realistic head sculpts, one capturing Maul's serious expression and the other his angry one. The sharp horns on his head are meticulously sculpted, and he also features an independently articulated eye system to capture his piercing gaze. This new figure boasts 30 points of highly articulated joints, meticulously recreating the classic red skin and black tattoo textures from the face to the body.
The costume features a new black hooded cloak from the animated series, with sleeveless shoulder straps, a wide belt, and boots crafted from new microfiber faux leather for a refined texture and enhanced durability. Hidden beneath the boots are mechanical prosthetic limbs. Multiple pairs of interchangeable hands and a themed base complete the look, embodying the Shadow King's style.
The figure comes with the iconic double-bladed, glowing red lightsaber, plus two additional single-bladed hilts (one glowing/one hanging). A pair of new wave-shaped lightsaber blade accessories are also included; their fan-shaped undulating dynamic design mimics the fluid visual afterimages created during the spinning, high-speed swings of the double blades, recreating Moore's fierce and whirlwind swordsmanship style.
